Al Bano Biography

Al Bano Inspired at a young age by Domenico Modugno, Italian pop singer Al Bano (born Albano Carrisi) moved to Milan from his native Cellino San Marco to get involved in popular music. After joining Clan Celentano, led by superstar Adriano Celentano, the newcomer had the opportunity to start touring around Italy. In 1967, EMI signed him up, releasing "Nel Sole." Al Bano met singer/songwriter Romina Power while playing a role in a local movie. They got married in July 1970 and started singing together soon after, making their debut with the release of 1975's Atto I and Dialogo. In 1991, Al Bano celebrated his 25th career anniversary. ~ Drago Bonacich, All Music Guide
