Champion Biography

Champion Champion was a short-lived '80s group formed in Canada by singer Alex Machin, who first caught the public's attention in another band called A Foot in Cold Water. Other members of Champion included drummer Paul Hannah; bassists Mike Gingrich and Dave Rose; saxophone player Leo Sullivan; and guitarists Ashley Mulford, John Duva, and Brian Allen. Allen also lent his talents on the keyboards. During their short time together, Champion managed to complete only one album, a self-titled effort that won little observance from the music world. It was released under the Solid Gold Records label. There was one pop/rock single that escaped from the debut album with some small amount of success, "I Would Lie to You for Your Love (And That's the Truth)." ~ Charlotte Dillon, All Music Guide
