Jennifer Y Los Jetz Biography
At just 13 years of age, Jennifer Peña became one of tejano music's biggest female stars after the death of Selena in 1995. Influenced mostly by the tejano superstar, Peña was born in Corpus Christi, TX, on September 17, 1983, and began her singing career at the age of five. Six years later, Selena's brutal murder prompted Peña to videotape her performance of several of Selena's hits. After she sent the tape to Selena's parents, they endeavored to get her signed to a contract. In 1996, EMI Latin signed the young singer and her band, the Jetz, releasing Jennifer y los Jetz's debut album, Dulzura, that same year. A self-titled effort followed in 1998. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
