Paramore Biography

Paramore Hayley Williams, the 16-year-old singer of Tennessee-based quintet Paramore, boasts earnest emotion and strikingly confident range for her young age. Raised in Meridian, Mississippi, Williams has been raising her voice for as long as she can remember--singing and writing songs for talent contests and local commercials. At age 13, her family moved to Franklin, Tennessee, where she made friends with two brothers--guitarist Josh and drummer Zac Farro. It wasn't long before the two teenaged musicians invited Williams to sing in their fledgling band, introducing the talented young vocalist to classic rock bands such as U2 and the Cure to modern outfits like Sparta and Failure. With Williams' next-door neighbor Jason Bynum on rhythm guitar, the band adopted the moniker Paramore and started performing at their school talent show and area rock venues. After having seen Paramore perform only once, John Janick, founder of Fueled By Ramen Records (also home to pop-punk heavyweights Fall Out Boy and The Academy Is...) was so impressed, he offered to sign the band to his label. In March 2005, Paramore relocated to sunny Orlando, Florida for to record their debut full-length All We Know Is Falling. While in the sunshine state, the band enlisted bassist John Hembree to fill in a deserted position and round out the five-piece line-up. Powered by buoyant melodies, memorable hooks, Williams' personal lyrics, Paramore display a musical depth well beyond the band's relatively young ages. All We Know Is Falling was released in July 2005.
