Poisonblack Biography

Poisonblack Initially formed in 2001 as a low-key side project with which to practice his guitar-playing skills, Poisonblack became the main band of Sentenced singer Ville Laihiala following that band's demise in 2005. By then, he'd already recorded and released 2003's Escapexstacy with the help of studio musicians J.P. Leppaluoto (vocals) and Janne Kukkonen (bass), but, come 2006's sophomore Lust Stained Despair album, both were gone and replaced by a tour-ready lineup including rhythm guitarist Janne Markus, keyboardist Marco Sneck, bassist Antti Remes, and drummer Tarmo Kanerva. Despite the musician turnover, neither album fell far from the Sentenced musical tree, as they featured gothic-tinged hard rock and metal. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide
