Sixty Watt Shaman Biography

Sixty Watt Shaman Baltimore's Sixty Watt Shaman started out in the mid-90's, when lead guitarist Joe Selby and drummer Chuck Dukehart dumped their band's previous name Supercreep, and teamed up with vocalist/rhythm guitarist Dan Kerzwick and bassist Jim Forrester. Drawing inspiration from both contemporary stoner rock heroes like Clutch and the Obsessed, as well as the usual ‘70's hard rock and heavy metal suspects (Zeppelin, Sabbath, et al), the band released their first album Ultra Electric through independent Game Two Records in 1998, then signed with Spitfire for 2000's Seeds of Decades. But, however energetic and technically proficient, their particular brand of heavy stoner rock didn't really distinguish itself from the realm of the conventional until the arrival of 2002's much improved Reason to Live, which introduced new drummer Pete Campbell. ~ Ed Rivadavia, All Music Guide
